The RRB has recently announced a notice to fill 9000 Technician posts in various zones. The online application process will start from 09 March 2024 and the last date to apply is not yet disclosed.

Eligibility Criteria For The RRB Technician Post

To apply for the RRB Technician posts, you need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in India.
  • You must have passed matriculation, SSLC, or ITI from a recognized institution of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade, or completed an Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade.
  • You must be between 18 and 33 years old as of July 1, 2024. The age limit may vary slightly depending on the post you are applying for. There is also age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per government rules.
  • You must meet the physical fitness standards prescribed by the Railways.

The Selection Process Of the RRB job

The selection process of RRB Technician job consists of four stages:

  • CBT 1: This is a computer-based test with 75 questions on general awareness, mathematics, reasoning, and basic science and engineering. The duration is 60 minutes and there is negative marking of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
  • CBT 2: This is another computer-based test with 175 questions on general awareness, physics and chemistry, basics of computers and applications, basics of environment and pollution control, and technical abilities. The duration is 150 minutes and there is negative marking of 1/3 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Document Verification: This is a stage where the candidates have to produce their original documents such as educational certificates, identity proof, caste certificate, etc. for verification by the officials.
  • Medical Examination: This is a stage where the candidates have to undergo a medical fitness test to ensure that they are physically fit for the post.

The candidates have to qualify each stage to be eligible for the final appointment as a Technician in the Railways. The selection is based on the performance and merit of the candidates in the CBTs.

Process To Apply For The RRB Technician Online

The online application process will be open from 9th March 2024 to 8th April 2024. Candidates who are interested and eligible can apply online for the RRB Technician Post 2024 by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of RRB

The first step is to visit the official website of RRB, which is indianrailways.gov.in or On the homepage, you will find a link for the RRB Technician Recruitment 2024. Click on it and you will be redirected to the regional website of RRB.

Step 2: Register yourself

The next step is to register yourself by providing your basic details such as name, date of birth, email id, mobile number, etc. You will receive a registration number and password on your email and mobile. Keep them safe for future use.

Step 3: Fill the online application form

After registering, you can log in with your credentials and fill the online application form. You will have to enter your personal details, educational qualifications, preferences, etc. You will also have to upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the specifications given in the notification.

Step 4: Pay the application fee

The last step is to pay the application fee through online mode using debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, etc. The application fee is Rs. 500 for general and OBC candidates, and Rs. 250 for SC, ST, PwD, women, and other reserved candidates. The fee is refundable after deducting the bank charges, if the candidate appears for the CBT exam.

Step 5: Submit the application form and take a printout

After paying the fee, you can submit the application form and take a printout of it for future reference. You will also receive a confirmation email and SMS on your registered email and mobile.
